Breeds Of The Week 1

The Affenpinscher

The Affenpinscher or ‘Monkey Dog’ as it is sometimes called (Affen means monkey in German and Pinscher means Terrier) is a wonderfully excitable, extremely alert, feisty, energetic bundle of joy!
Not wanting to skip past ‘extremely alert’ too quickly, this beautiful beast takes its job very seriously and will alert you (and most likely your neighbours too) to a visitor approaching the front door. Aside from its watchdog status, the Affenpinscher is generally quiet, playful, intelligent, and with a hilariously creative mind. Bordering on stubborn, this little pup needs early training, but with its eagerness to please training is not difficult.
Bred originally in Germany as a ratter, he started out slightly larger in size, however, he became a firm favourite and bred to be the toy size that he is today and became more of a companion dog.
We love this little beautiful beast, stubbornness and all.

Breeds Of The Week 2

The LaPerm cat

The LaPerm is a Rex breed (ie breeds which have a curly coat – but they are not related to the Devon or Cornish Rex) they have glorious coats which can be long or short, fluffy or ringlet curls, they are beautiful, inquisitive, affectionate, and outgoing. Originating in Oregon, the LaPerm has found its way onto a postage stamp, one would hope first class.
Not one to wait to be told no, if they want a cuddle they will help themselves to your lap, but be warned they do undergo one heavy moult, where their fur comes back even curlier.
Wonderful mothers to their litter, the LaPerm is a loving beautiful beast, and a popular winner at many cat shows.
