Puppy Walking

This is such a big question that all new dog owners should ask and should know.  When a puppy is young, they’re full of energy and want to go forever, but it’s up to us as the guardians of these tiny beasts to ensure we doing the best for them, like their mother would do.

How Long?

Puppies need a fraction of the walking time that a full sized dog needs, the rule of thumb that is recommended by many organisations is the 5 minutes per month rule. If your puppy is 3 months old, take him out for 15 minutes,  4 months, 20 minutes and so on. Once they are fully grown, they can obviously go out for much longer.

Good For Everyone

Exercise is an essential part of any puppy or dogs routine and helps them to learn how to socialise, work out any excess energy that they have and will definitely make you and them happier and healthier.
When you’re out and about, don’t forget to take the essentials with you, poop bags, a good training lead and training treats can be a real help, but don’t over feed them on their walk.

Puppy Training

If you’re really not sure on training and walking a puppy, then consider getting professionals involved. There are so many great puppy training schools out there that offer socialising for your puppy and training for you.  So that you can learn the best ways to get the most out of your relationship with your new companion.
